After Brexit there’s good news, in America, interest in travel to Europe is at an all time high! MMGY Global predicts a record number of vacations and new highs in vacation spending among American travelers over the next two years. American travelers are going back to travel agents in a steadily growing pace, in fact, overall use of travel agents and desire to use them is up across the board in every generational group. More importantly,  American travelers who said they used travel agents also said they were strongly influenced by them in selecting specific destinations, hotels and resorts.

The bad news is, “travel agents can’t sell your hotel if they don’t know it’s there.” says, Stephen Scott, CEO & Founder of HoteliersFriend, Sales & Marketing Solutions for Independent Hotels Worldwide, Dublin Ireland. “If you’re relying on OTAs and Direct Bookings or worse a representation company that places your hotel on a long list of comparable hotels, you’ll be missing out on serious business from North America!”

Mr. Scott who has spent more than twenty years in the industry marketing hotels to American travel professionals adds, “consumers are simply flummoxed by the sheer volume of choice out there on the Internet, plainly put, your brand needs to cut through the din. Your hotel must be placed right in front of the American travel professional. The goal must be, when travel agents think of your destination they think of your hotel. Remember, American holidaymakers stay longer, do more and spend more, so investing in the American market is well worth it!”

Stephen Scott also stresses: “travel agents recommend destinations; they build relationships of trust with their clients; they send returning business; they sell not only the room-night but the experience. Travel agents do much more than OTAs. An educated travel professional is your hotel’s best partner!”

Today’s hotelier needs to team up with the right marketing expert that will provide the connections, tools and experience necessary so the American travel professional can confidently close the deal.

                                                       Trusted Traveler Programs

In July 2011, U.S. Customs and Border Protection introduced the Single Trusted Traveler Program Application for Global Entry, SENTRI, and NEXUS. U.S. citizen, U.S. lawful permanent resident, Canadian citizen, Canadian landed immigrant, or Mexican citizen applicants can now complete one application and receive access to all modes of travel into the United States.

Global Entry

  • Global Entry is a U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) program that allows expedited clearance for pre-approved, low-risk travelers upon arrival in the United States.
  • Though intended for frequent international travelers, there is no minimum number of trips necessary to qualify for the program.
  • Participants may enter the United States by using automated kiosks located at select airports.

How Does the Global Entry Program Work…

  • At airports, program participants proceed to Global Entry kiosks, present their machine-readable passport or U.S. permanent resident card, place their fingertips on the scanner for fingerprint verification, and make a customs declaration.
  • The kiosk issues the traveler a transaction receipt and directs the traveler to baggage claim and the exit.
  • Travelers must be pre-approved for the Global Entry program.
  • All applicants undergo a rigorous background check and interview before enrollment.
  • While Global Entry’s goal is to speed travelers through the process, members may be selected for further examination when entering the United States.
  • Any violation of the program’s terms and conditions will result in appropriate enforcement action and revocation of the traveler’s membership privileges.

MEMBER RESPONSIBILITIES

  •  You are responsible for maintaining up-to-date personal information in your Global Online Enrollment System account.
  •  This includes any changes to your address, passport or immigration status. •
  • Changes in any documents that you used to establish your Global Entry account, such as your passport can be updated online in your Global Online Enrollment System, or GOES, account.
  •   Changes to immigration status must be made in person with appropriate documentation at a Global Entry Enrollment Center.

PENALTIES FOR PROGRAM VIOLATIONS

  • All travelers, including Global Entry members, are subject to full and random examinations by CBP officers upon entering the U.S.

If you violate any condition of Global Entry or any law or regulation of the U.S., officers may:

• Revoke your Global Entry privileges;

• Seize any undeclared goods;

• Issue penalties;

• Start criminal prosecution;

• Initiate any other legal proceedings as appropriate.

HOW TO USE A GLOBAL ENTRY KIOSK

  1. Verify your identification
  2.  Members must use a passport or U.S. legal permanent resident card at Global Entry kiosk
  3. The Global Entry kiosk will show you the correct way to slide your machine-readable passport into the passport reader.
  4.  After your data displays, remove passport and look up at the camera.
  5. The kiosk will then prompt you to press four fingers on your right or left hand on the fingerprint scanner to verify your Global Entry membership against the biometrics stored in the database.

Declare goods

1. The kiosk will then display a customs declaration screen. All travelers entering the U.S., including Global Entry members, must complete a declaration.

With Global Entry, you do not need to complete the paper Customs Declaration form 6059B before arrival.

2. Touch YES or NO to answer each declaration question. You must declare all goods purchased, received as gifts or repaired or altered while abroad.

3. You must declare if you are carrying currency of more than $10,000 U.S. or a foreign equivalent, in cash or monetary instruments such as travelers’ checks or money orders.

For your declaration you may use the Global Entry kiosk, but the kiosk will direct you to use the regular inspection lane where you will be required to declare to a CBP officer and complete a currency/ monetary instrument report form.

4. If your imports exceed the personal exemption amount allowed, you may use a Global Entry kiosk, but the kiosk will print a receipt directing you to the regular inspection line.

5. You must declare any fruits, vegetables, plants, insects, meats or meat products, dairy products, animals or animals/wildlife products, disease agents, cell cultures, snails, or soil.

If you have visited a farm/ranch/pasture outside the United States, please let the CBP officer know.

Confirm flight information

1. When flight information displays, if correct touch YES. If incorrect, touch NO and provide airline, flight number and city of departure.

2. Touch NEXT button on each screen to continue.

Take receipt and proceed

1. The kiosk will dispense a paper receipt. Take the receipt, show it to the CBP officer assigned to the exit control point.

2. If there is an X across the receipt, take it to the CBP Officer in the nearest booth for further assistance. If a kiosk is out of service If the Global Entry kiosk is not functioning, proceed to the nearest staffed passport control primary processing line for inspection and you will receive front-of-the-line privileges.

5 Secret Ways to Save on Your Next Rental Car

Some of the facts to keep in mind while going for a rental car;
  • Make comparison between different companies and brands and enquire about them in the markets and clients.
  •  you can also make a study of rates of the best local companies to find the lowest rates.
  • Just compare the customer service record of each car rental company which provides service you the service for that matter.

  • Downtown versus Airport Pick-up

    The first point is that just make a good calculation as to which is the better option-  walk straight from the plane to your rental car or  directly go to the shuttle or transfer to a downtown location in the city center.

    Be aware and make use of the agencies rendering special offers on longer-term car rentals.

    You must remember that at times it’s less expensive to pick up your car at the airport even with the fee, and on the other hand, you can save money by picking up your car at a downtown location.

    You might be knowing that the easiest way to save money is to book early. You can avoid the last minute rush and hurry and needless to say that the longer you wait, the less rental stock is available and the more expensive it gets.

This summer, car renters in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania will encounter the highest prices in the USA. A recent survey from CheapCarRental.net came to this determination after comparing 50 main U.S. cities. Each one’s car rental rate during the month of August 2016 served as the basis of comparison.

When it comes to renting a car, the City of Brotherly Love isn’t so brotherly this summer. Renters can expect to spend an average of $83 per rental day at the check-in counter there, and that’s for the city’s cheapest available vehicle. Rounding out the Top 3 are Seattle and Boston at only a few dollars cheaper per day. With average daily rates of $81 and $80, respectively, they take the number two and three spots on the survey.

In contrast, car renters will enjoy low rental rates throughout much of Florida. Orlando, for example, shows the least expensive rate in the USA at a mere $26 per rental day. Its state partners of Miami, Tampa and Fort Lauderdale are also a bargain in comparison to Philadelphia. In all three Floridian cities, visitors should be able to find a vehicle rental for approximately $30 daily.

The following table compares car rental rates of 50 destinations in the USA. The prices shown reflect the average daily rate for the cheapest available car in each locale during the period spanning August 1–31, 2016. For comparative purposes, each respective city’s airport was chosen as the Pick-Up and Drop-Off location.

Chandelier Drive Thru Tree

Chandelier Drive Thru Tree-7

There are three drive thru trees all along a 100 mile stretch of Highway 101. Each of them are basically the same, but how often do you get to drive through a tree? Might as well do them all, starting with the Southernmost tree which is the Chandelier Drive Thru Tree in Leggett.

Santa Cruz Mystery Spot

Mystery Spot Santa Cruz 2

The Mystery Spot in Santa Cruz is one of the most well-known spots on this list. You will often see the bumper stickers the this logo on cars up and down the state, and it really is something that you need to experience for yourself.

Toads Hollow

Toad Hollow-7

In Davis there is a “underpass” for toads to cross the road safely. Not much else to say about this but it is a unique roadside attraction for sure.

Trees of Mystery

Tree of Mystery-1

In the top left corner of the state sits this super fun roadside stop that has something for everyone. The trees here range from cathedral trees you can get married in front of to trees shaped like lightning bolts. It also has a sky tram that you can ride up to a vantage point for the area.

Winchester Mystery House

front-of-the-winchester-house

The Winchester Mystery House is the house that the Winchester family (of gun fame) lived in and that Sarah Winchester built non stop till she passed away. It has doors that don’t open, staircases that lead to brick walls and just all around crazy stuff that you have to see to believe. It is a great tour to take while in San Jose.

So there is my list of the best roadside attractions in the state. What did I leave off this list? be sure to let me know in the comments.

Info- //www.sandals.com/about

The Sandals Royal Bahamian Spa Resort & Offshore Island in Nassau will close from Aug. 15 to Oct. 13 “due to circumstances beyond our control,” according to a letter sent to travel agents.

Although the letter did not detail the reason behind the temporary closure of the resort, the decision comes weeks after labor tension led to a protest staged by the union representing Sandals workers, according to the Nassau Guardian. The resort employs about 490 line staff and 100 managers.

“We appreciate your patience as we work through this challenging time,” wrote Gary Sadler, senior vice president of sales for Unique Vacations, the sales and marketing arm of Sandals Resorts International.

Guests have been offered rebooking at another Sandals or Beaches resort and were assured that Sandals would absorb all airline change fees.

In addition, Sandals is extending two complimentary nights to any stay, valid for one year from original date and based on availability.

Sandals has set up a 24-hour hotline at (800) 965-2364 for questions and concerns.
