You might be knowing that the Willis Tower took three years to build and was opened to the public in 1974 with its height of 1,453 ft with an observation area, called the SkyDeck, on the 103rd floor, 1,353 feet above the ground. A glass box with a glass floor, known as the Ledge, juts out from the SkyDeck, where visitors can stand and look directly down at the city below.

Garfield Park Conservatory will engage you with its historic importance and you will come to know that it is a publicly owned botanical garden, operated by the Chicago Park District. The gardens grow plants which are used in the numerous city parks and gardens along with the promptbuscharters.com
You will appreciate its glass and metal prairie-school structure designed by noted landscape architect Jens Jensen.
Some of the highlights include the Children’s Garden, the Demonstration Gardens, and the Monet Garden, based on Claude Monet’s garden at Giverney, France.

Jungle Tales

This popular preschool program focuses on the rain forest and our local environment. Join us each month for a different nature-related story, activity, and craft. This program fills up fast and pre-registration is required.

Orchid Show
Date: Saturday, April 16 & Sunday, April 17
Time: Sat-Sun 10 am – 5 pm
Fee: $4 per person, $10 per family (1 or 2 adults, 1+ children)
This weekend, the Garfield Conservatory will be filled with many displays of blooming orchids from across the Midwest, all competing for awards. Come check out this annual event presented by the Central Indiana Orchid Society. Vendors will also be available with orchids for sale.

You will appreciate the John Hancock Center

It is interesting to note that this building is locally as “Big John,” the tower is situated on North Michigan Avenue in a prestigious district with expensive apartments, shops, offices, hotels, restaurants, and art galleries.

You will note its tapered shape in order to match the different floor space requirements that decrease from bottom to top — from the entrance and commercial zones at the base to the clusters of small apartments at medium height and finally to the large apartments on top, where relatively less space is needed for ancillary rooms with artificial lighting.
