GoCardSDgo-san-diego-card-in-san-diego-155238

The Go Card is one of quite a few options for saving money on the most popular attractions in San Diego

Go San Diego Card makes claims that it can help you to save up to 55%” on lots of attractions.

What the card is all about!

You can think of it as a Go Card as a volume discounter as they negotiate with local tourist attractions for discounts. You can also  sell them as  the card-based packages.

You can choose from two types of Go San Diego Card:

The basic version- All-Inclusive)- It is the one that covers all their offered attractions for a fixed price, which will be  valid for a maximum number of days that you choose. Buy more days and the card costs more.

Build Your Own-It has  fewer attractions and is good for 30 days after your first use, but you can choose only ones you want to visit. The more you choose, the greater the discount.  The highlight is that they also offer some pre-built packages for the most popular attractions.

How it works-

You can use it – the Go Card- to any included San Diego attraction, present it at the ticket window (before 5:30 p.m.) and you can get the permission.

After it’s used the first time, the card is good for the number of days you chose.

The point is that the days must be in consecutive days.

Except for the rare multi-day pass, you can visit each attraction only once.

  • Instruct kids not to open hotel room doors to people they don’t know.
  • Make sure kids are familiar with hotel/motel escape routes. Discuss which adult is responsible for which child/children in an emergency.
  • In California, when in a car, children under the age of 8 MUST use a child safety seat, a booster seat or other safety restraint system in the back seat. (Booster seats are special seats designed to make adult seat belts properly fit older children. Correct use of a booster seat will fulfill the new law requirement. Children under 8 who are 4′ 9″ or taller may be secured by a safety belt in the back seat.) Kids must not be left alone in a car.

Ocean Beach Brewery opens to spectacular views in San Diego

oceanocean 1

Ocean Beach Brewery kegged its first house beer this week and officially opened July 1.

Newport Pizza owner Mike Tajran has been working since 2013 to bring his vision for the three-story brewpub to reality, and finally, his view from the top is spectacular.

Located on Newport Avenue directly across from Tajran’s pizza place, the brewery has three ADA accessible floors, a full kitchen, a five-barrel brewing system, a retail section and a stunning rooftop deck.

The first floor, with a beautifully crafted wave-inspired bar top, will serve as the main tasting room. The second floor, with a glass lined balcony, will have additional seating and a retail area. The rooftop lounge described as the money shot by general manager Katie Bither is the highest spot in Ocean Beach and offers sweeping views of the ocean and Newport Avenue.

“This view is just, I mean this is the best view in Ocean Beach,” Bither said, as she looked out at the unobstructed view of the pier. “We are higher than everything else, the sunsets here are just going to be killer.”

According to Bither, Ocean Beach Brewery intends to separate itself from the rest of the breweries and tasting rooms in the Ocean Beach area with their atmosphere, brewing system and full kitchen.

“We want this to be a cool OB spot,” Bither said. “For the opening, we invited local businesses, we made shirts, we developed our social media, we really want this to be great.”

The brewery will have three of their own house beers on tap as well as 17 guest beers. Tajran and James Millea have been working on the brewery’s three beers for more than a year now and are proud to have finally kegged their first.

“We do it all here and we were finally able to get the pale ale done this week. That is really exciting for us,” Millea said.

Chef Evan Sabin has created a menu with options for everyone when it comes to both taste and price.

“I haven’t had something I didn’t like,” Bither said. “It’s one of those things where you eat it and you wish you didn’t like it as much as you do.”

According to Bither, a friend and employee at Newport Pizza saw the lot across the street go up for sale years ago and urged Tajran to buy it. Initially hesitant to move the pizza shop, Tajran decided a full kitchen brewery was something he had always wanted to do, and this was his opportunity.

“Mike is a dreamer and a big success and Ocean Beach Brewery will be no different,” Bither said.

San Diego tourism industry expected to reach record high

SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – San Diego’s tourism industry is expected to set a calendar-year record for number of visitors, how much money spent and hotel room tax revenue generated.

According to the San Diego Tourism Authority (SDTA), it is projected that 34.2 million people will visit San Diego by the end of this year, spending $9.9 billion, staying for a combined 16.9 million nights in hotels, and adding $266 million in room tax revenue to local government coffers.

“While San Diego has long been a popular travel destination, the region’s appeal to travelers from around the world continues to grow and strengthen,” said SDTA President and CEO Joe Terzi.

“In ever-increasing numbers, visitors are taking notice of all that San Diego has to offer, from our iconic attractions and world-class museums to our diverse neighborhood experiences and our innovative spirit that creates a dynamic business climate,” he said.

Previously, the SDTA announced that convention bookings reached a 10- year high with commitments for 1 million future hotel room stays.

The increased business comes amid a marketing effort that included an $8.9 million television, print, online and billboard advertising campaign, along with the retention of a marketing representative in Australia.

Tourism promotion was derailed two years ago during a funding fight between the hotel industry and then-Mayor Bob Filner. Advertising didn’t get going again in a major way until 2014.

“We’re very encouraged by the growth of San Diego’s tourism economy over the past couple of years,” Terzi said. “And every San Diegan has a stake in the success of this important industry.”

He pointed out that hotel tax revenue goes into local government general funds, which pay for basic services like public safety and parks.

After months of deliberation and research by Worth’s editorial team, San Diego was chosen for its burgeoning technology and life sciences ecosystems, powerful cross-border manufacturing economy, unparalleled infrastructure and world-class cultural institutions.

“San Diego has long been famous for its incredible natural beauty and beautiful weather,” says Richard Bradley, Worth’s editor in chief and chief content officer.

“But thanks to its close and mutually beneficial relationship with Mexico, its status as a global hub with a particular emphasis on Asia, and its world-class scientific community, San Diego is also an economic powerhouse.”

“Recognition like this from a magazine as prestigious as Worth shows that San Diego’s reputation is shifting,” says Joe Terzi, President and CEO of the San Diego Tourism Authority. “The city is becoming known for more than beautiful scenery. Showcasing San Diego’s innovation, creativity and strong business sector is vital not only for attracting new companies and talent to the marketplace, but it is also key for attracting top conferences and business travelers, which are a critical part of the local tourism economy.”

“From advancing the human genome to developing cutting-edge military technologies, San Diego is a leader in global innovation,” said Mark Cafferty, president and CEO at San Diego Regional EDC. “Worth provides San diego with a powerful platform to tell our story to important audiences around the world.”

Focused on entrepreneurship, wealth management, philanthropy, travel and lifestyle, the Worth media brand includes print, digital, broadcast and radio channels  as well as the bimonthly magazine Worth. Thefull list of Worth Destination cities will be announced on June 21. The June/July issue of the magazine featuring San Diego will be available on newsstands beginning June 28, 2016.
