• Stamford Museum &Nature Center

Unfortunately, Stamford doesn’t have any mainstream zoos or aquariums, but you do have the Stamford Museum & Nature Center. This is the closest you can get to a zoo in Stamford, with a small number of animals that includes two otters. The museum and nature center itself is geared primarily for the kids, but any ages can enjoy here. The museum is filled with hands-exhibits, especially those perfect for young ones. The facility is open from 9 am to 5 pm, but hours may change depending on the time of the year. They are also closed on major holidays. • Caumsett State Park

Built in 1948 and 1949, it was designed by Philip Johnson to be his own home. While it originally started out as his home, it now is one of the most unique attractions in Connecticut. You can book a tour of this unique house anywhere from the beginning of May to the end of November. Tours are given on Sunday, Monday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. • Cove Island

Stamford has several parks, but Cove Island is one of the most popular. The 83-acre park is also comprised of a beachfront that is located on the Long Island Sound. Some of these include a gun from the Battle of Gettysburg, a portrait of George Washington, and even a replica of Liberty Bell. The State House is open all year Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm.

 

• RISD Museum

Clustered on the campus of the Rhode Island School of Design, you can find their museum. Inside, you can find more than 91,000 works of art put on display. Some pieces came from famous artists, such as Money, Degas, and more. Gothic and Medieval collections are also on display within the museum. The RISD Museum is open from 10 am to 5 pm on Tuesday through Sunday. On Thursday, hours are extended until 9 pm. Entrance for adults costs $12 and $3 for kids aged 5 to 18. • Arkansas State Capitol

The Arkansas State Capitol is a must see attraction when you visit Little Rock. Built between 1899 and 1915, the capitol building was built on the site of the state penitentiary. The building is made of limestone and marble, with the cupola made of 24-carat gold leaf. • Highland Park

Made up of 150-acres, Highland Park is a popular tourist attraction in Rochester. The park is an arboretum that was designed by Frederick Law Olmsted, known to be the father of American landscape architecture. The garden contains 1200 lilac plants, Japanese Maples, many kinds of magnolias, a rock garden, and a variety of other plants and shrubs. The park is also home to Rochester’s famous Lilac Festival. • George Eastman Museum

The George Eastman Museum is located in the mansion of George Eastman, known as the pioneer of modern photography. The mansion was completed in 1905 and given over to the University of Rochester when Eastman died. After that, the university donated the estate to the museum that is dedicated to George Eastman. The museum is the oldest photography museum in the world, and it is also one of the oldest film archives. Some of the museum’s original collections included Civil War photos and the Gabriel Cromer collection. The museum is open every day except Monday from 10 am to 5 pm. • Seneca Park Zoo

Some of these trails lead to secluded beaches, like Kirby Cove and Black Sands Beach. The bridge can be used every day for the whole day by any vehicles or foot. Also, there might be some tolls along the bridge.

 

• Golden Gate Park

Another interesting attraction, the Golden Gate Park offers visitors so many things to do. There are trails, picnic areas, playgrounds for the kids, sports courts, several gardens, and museums. • California Academy of Sciences

Located within the Golden Gate Park, you can’t miss heading over to the California Academy of Sciences, especially with kids. Housing an aquarium, a planetarium, a natural history museum, and a rainforest, there is more than enough here for your enjoyment. The Steinhart Aquarium houses more than 40,000 animals, including a penguin colony, a swamp with an albino alligator, and a lagoon filled with sharks. There is also a separate 100,000 gallon tank that looks exactly like the Californian coast ecosystem. The Osher Rainforest holds 1,600 animals, which include birds, reptiles, and amphibians. The Morrison Planetarium has a 75 foot wide screen, which plays the “Tour of the Universe” every day. You can also view dinosaur fossils and experience an earthquake in the Kimball Natural History Museum.

 

• The Exploratorium

If you like to get a hands-on experience at a museum, head over to the Exploratorium. The Exploratorium offers 600 hands-on exhibits that cover several subjects such as engineering, biology, and more. We recommend you heading over to the tactile dome, where you use only your sense of touch to help yourself navigate through the pitch-black darkness of the dome. You can also admire the San Francisco sculpture made of 10,000 toothpicks. While this museum is perfect for the younger ones, adults can enjoy their time here as well. If you don’t want to see kids running around, visit on a Thursday after 6pm, where its 18 and up.
